Don King Boxing Review Wii

Don King Boxing tries hard to give a more pragmatic portrayal of the sport. Although slack, the game reflects the sport well. Disappointingly, this realism is blemished by lack of impact.

The action-based controls in Don King Boxing mostly work well. You can throw three types of punches. Timing your strategy may be tough due to restricted controls. However, even though the controls do a good job of imitating the sport, its success is quickly up in smoke because the action lacks intensity.

An added feature is the balance board, but it doesn’t make the fighting any more intense. It is also used during the training program. The modes tend to get repetitive as there are only four training programs offered.

The action may become tedious, but the story saves the day. Don King and his boxing buddies narrate the career of your character, The Kid, as he rises to world champion. The live-action footage has these boxing fans recounting your career, which adds a bit of personality. The flashbacks relate the heartbreak of many classic fights, and in a new twist, you can go back to relive history or change it.

The game has a good visual presentation. Despite the real fighters and life-like controls, the action seems a tad bit too dull. The close-up view makes it difficult to figure out your opponent’s distance. Even the addition of the balance board fails to make the fights appealing. This game in its haphazard form is no extraordinary game. The controls can’t overcome the tedious fights.

Having said that, Don King Boxing is a game that you may play just casually.
