Types of cable connectors

With the help of the cable connectors, communication has become a vital part of our lives. For connecting video source to analog display such as CRT monitor, DVI-A cable is used. Rapid advances in fiber optics technology have made traditional wiring obsolete and unsuited for transferring complex data like images. Fiber optical cable connectors have replaced them, as they are small and transparent.
They are as thin as wires and are able to transfer data via beams of light. Fiber optics cable connectors are considered safe, as they are not affected by electromagnetic fields. They are low weight and have high electrical resistance. These cable connectors are cost effective and are usable even by untrained personnel. LC connector is a mechanical device mounted on the end of a fiber optic cable.
LC cable connectors are available for both single mode and multimode fiber cables. RF cable connectors are usually used with coaxial cables and are designed to maintain the protection offered by the coaxial design. RF actually simply means radio-frequency. RF cable connectors are also called coax cable connectors. For most fiber optic cable connectors, the major components are ferrule, connector body, connector cap and strain-relief boot. Fiber optic cable connectors are much more durable and can withstand brutal environments and extreme weather changes than when the technology was introduced. Cable connectors can be installed by various methods depending on the connector types. While connecting the cable connectors, one has to make sure that the ends have a smooth finish.
